This Privacy Policy describes how Glob Inc. (“Glob,” “we,” or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Glob mobile application and related services.
1. Information We Collect
Account data: email, username, full name, birthday, profile photo, bio, website link, home country, and interests. Usage data: videos watched, likes, comments, reposts, device type, and general location inferred from IP. Content you upload: videos, captions, and associated metadata. Contacts (optional): if you enable Sync Contacts, we hash email addresses and phone numbers from your address book on your device and compare hashes to discover friends on Glob—we do not store your raw contact list on our servers.
2. How We Use Information
We use data to provide and improve the service, personalize your feed, process creator payouts, prevent fraud and abuse, communicate with you about your account, and comply with legal obligations. Hashed contact data is used only to suggest connections when you opt in.
3. Legal Bases (EEA/UK)
Where applicable, we process data based on contract performance (providing the app), legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement), consent (contacts sync, marketing where required), and legal obligations.
4. Sharing With Third Parties
We share data with service providers that help us operate Glob, including Supabase (hosting and authentication), Mux (video delivery), analytics providers, and payment processors for creator payouts. These parties process data under contractual safeguards. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
5. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers where required by law.
6. Retention
We retain account information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, security, and backup purposes. You may delete your account in Settings, which removes your profile and associated personal data subject to limited retention required by law.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact privacy@glob.app to exercise these rights. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA.
8. Children
Glob is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or email.
